Abstract

Vaginal hysterectomy is signature operation of gynecological profession, it is gold standard and hallmark of surgical extirpative hysterectomy surgery. At minimum gynecologist should perform at least 25% of hysterectomies by vaginal route to become expertise. Initial in our Residency only indication of vaginal hysterectomy was prolapse, the concept of non-descent vaginal hysterectomy (NDVH) was not there. But now NDVH is increasingly be used for difficult situation like previous LSCS, big fibroid, and even benign adnexal masses. Vaginal surgeries, encompassing a range of procedures from hysterectomy to prolapse repair, require thorough preoperative care to ensure optimal outcomes and minimize complications. This care focuses on both physical and psychological preparation, empowering patients and facilitating a smooth surgical experience. A well-structured preoperative plan is crucial for minimizing risks, optimizing patient comfort, and promoting a successful recovery. This article will delve into the essential components of preoperative care for vaginal surgeries.
